Annie Vernay-Nouri was curator in chief, in charge of the Arabic manuscripts from the Oriental section of the Department of Manuscripts at the Bibliothèque nationale de France between 1993 and 2018. She curated several exhibitions such as “Enluminures en terre d’Islam, entre abstraction et figuration” (2011). Among her most important publications are L’art du livre arabe, co-edited with Marie-Geneviève Guesdon (2001), and Les périples de Kalila wa Dimna, co-edited with Eloïse Brac de la Perrière and Aïda El Khiari (2022).
For CallFront, Annie Vernay-Nouri is particularly interested in Arabic calligraphy in China, a topic she already started to study at the BnF. She is the author of the article “De quelques corans chinois et leur papier” published in Mélanges de l’Université Saint-Joseph (Vol. 59, 253-267) in 2006.
