Johanna Cozzolino is a PhD candidate in Islamic Art at Sorbonne University. Her study aims to characterize and establish a typology of the Qur’ans produced in China during the Mongol period and the Ming dynasty by highlighting a set of largely unpublished manuscripts. The study of these Qur’ans will highlight the stages of a standardization process that seem to have affected all of this Chinese production, both in its paleographic and iconographic developments.
In the CallFront project, Johanna Cozzolino works on a corpus of Chinese Qur’ans with Annie Vernay-Nouri. She also assists in the coordination of researchers working on China in the project.
