Research Team

Tia is member of Maritime Asia Heritage Survey (MAHS) and an affiliated researcher of the Kyoto University Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS). Since 2018, she has worked on the MAHS Maldives and Indonesia Field Survey Teams to digitally document historic sites, inscriptions, and manuscript materials. She contributes to the CALLFRONT project as a researcher assistant for Prof. R. Michael Feener’s work on the distinctive forms of Arabic calligraphy that have developed in the Maldives since the conversion of those islands to Islam in the mid-12th century.
