Nuria de Castilla (Full Professor at the EPHE, Paris) works on cultural history and material culture of Muslim communities in Spain and Maghreb in the Middle Ages and Early Modern Period, and the two-way influences with the Iberian Christian written practices. Her current research topics are the history of the libraries in sixteenth-century Spain and North Africa, the production and transmission of the Qur’an in the Western Islamic World, and the written culture in Muslim Spain in Medieval and Modern times (Arabic, Spanish, and

In the frame of the CallFront Project, she will invest and develop her experience with the manuscripts of the Islamic West. In the first stage, she will analyze the Arabic scripts of some anonymous Muslim copyists who were working in the same Iberian workshops in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
